PIV Card Integration


Our Cybersecurity consultants provided Security Management and Engineering support for a commercial client's Health Information Systems.  Our staff led efforts for developing security architecture, implementing data integrity, Continuous Diagnostics and Mitigation (CDM) methods and developing Cybersecurity policy to ensure systems and security operations were aligned with HIPAA Security and Privacy rules.

Appian Logic continues to serve as the  trusted advisor for a Federal Client's  Office of the Chief Security Officer, Enterprise Identity Management Program, We provide Strategic Planning, Program Management, and Architecture and Engineering support in the areas of  Homeland Security Presidential Directive-12 (HSPD-12), Identity Credential and Access Management (ICAM), Physical Access Control System (PACS), Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), and Information Assurance.


Our engineers designed, implemented and manages the client's Test & Evaluation Lab providing testing and IV&V services for PIV cards, LACS and PACS solutions.

Our seasoned professionals were instrumental in leading the  implementation of a Federal client's PIV card issuance solution using Intercede's MyID Card Management System (CMS) to achieve compliance with FIPS-201 and FPKI Common Policy. As part of the integration, certificate attributes were added to support Windows integration and Logical Access Control (LACS) for external application service providers. The work directly contributed to EPA as an early adopter of PIV card Windows logon and one of the first Federal Agencies to achieve over 97% PIV card issuance to its population of approximately 20,000 Federal employees and contractors.

Appian Logic served as the trusted advisor and systems integrator for the Office of the CIO, and CISO in the areas of PKI, HSPD-12, ICAM and IT Architecture. Our team led the development of Enterprise Infrastructure Technical Reference Model, establishing standards to improve Cybersecurity and interoperability across the department. Appian Logic also authored DOJ and FBI PKI policies, led FBCA cross certification activities, and enabled applications permitting multi-factor authetication to applications and network services. Appian Logic also advised the department's data security, electronic Physical Access Control System (PACS) and Continuous Diagnostics and Mitigation (CDM) strategy.

Appian Logic provides technical expertise in the areas of Identity and Credential management to assist a commercial client with implementing and managing Enterprise HSPD-12 services for PIV card issuance, lifecycle management and identity protection. Our SMEs led the integration of the Enterprise Identity Management System with Automated Biometric Identification System (IDENT) to establish Enterprise fingerprinting services, improving security, augmenting the personnel vetting process, and establishing a biometric chain of trust.

Appian Logic provides security services for a Federal client as lead advisors and engineers in developing the security architecture and design, documenting security control test plans, compiling standard operating procedures (SOP), and providing security guidance to ensure mission essential systems obtain an Authority to Operate (ATO). As part of the security services our Cyber Security SMEs performs security testing and scanning activities of critical systems to ensure the systems have been validated to meet High-Side security requirements, guidelines and best practices.
